I've been a sojourner that passed through various homes.
Sometimes I'm welcomed with peace and hospitality,
other times I've dodged stones and walked over eggshells.
I received words of encouragement and my name placed in prayer buckets.
I became the topic of discussion and gossip from tale bearers.
Through it all, I regained my strength and held on to the peace of God.
Despite the desire to lash out, God taught me to travel on another route.
He showed me how to build my house because there is no house
like a stable house, a place where you reflect peace.
“If the home is worthy, let your peace rest on it;
if it is not, let your peace return to you.
And if anyone will not welcome you or heed your words,
shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.”
